Real-Time APIs for Education

Virtual classrooms need video, screen sharing, chat, and collaboration — all in real time. Here is how openbnet powers real-time education experiences.

Real-time in education

Modern education apps — virtual classrooms, tutoring platforms, study groups — need real-time interaction to feel like being in the same room. Video for face-to-face, screen sharing for presentations, chat for Q&A, and collaborative notes for shared learning. openbnet provides all four in one platform.

What openbnet provides for education

  • Video & Voice Calling — small-group video (teacher + students), screen sharing for presentations
  • Chat Messaging — real-time Q&A, chat history, file sharing for assignments
  • Spaces & Groups — class groups with invite codes, roles (teacher/admin/student), collaborative notes
  • AI Moderation — keep classroom chat safe and appropriate

A typical virtual classroom

A teacher creates a Space for the class (auto-generated invite code shared with students). The Space has an integrated chat room for async Q&A and a video call room for live sessions. During a live session, the teacher shares their screen (slides, code, whiteboard). Students ask questions in chat. The session is recorded for later review. After class, the chat room persists so students can continue discussing.

Why openbnet for education

  • Small-group video (mesh) is ideal for tutoring and seminars (under 10 participants)
  • Chat history loads automatically — students joining late see context
  • File uploads: share PDFs, images, assignments in chat
  • Spaces provide a persistent class hub with roles and notes
  • Free tier: 1,000 MAU — perfect for pilot programs
